Please join up; all member requests are automatically approved. To Bid on Art: You do not have to be a member! But you may, if you like; anyone can join up! And you will receive group notifications if you do. We would like to keep our Gallery limited to two things: 1. Artwork made in direct support of Japan during this disaster, whether or not it is offered in the auction 2. Specific pieces that will be auctioned off, or have been auctioned off - not example pieces I know you all have great artwork, but this group needs to keep its focus. Thank you for understanding! If you submit a piece of art that does not obviously fit into either of the two categories, please include a note that tells me what is is for. Requests Post Introduction HelpJapan is an art charity auction group to encourage monetary donations to Japan to help them cope and recover from the recent earthquakes and tsunami on 11 March 2011. It accepts all forms of art. The idea is this: artists will offer a work of art, a commission if you will, and others will "bid" on that work of art. The winner of the auction will then donate the entire amount of the bid directly to a charity website of their choosing (see link below). They will show proof to the artist, in the form of a receipt or confirmation number, of their donation, and the artist will then create the desired work of art for the winning bidder. No money goes to the artists; they are not actually selling their art. The art is a donation to the bidder on behalf of the charities helping Japan, and an encouragement for them to donate. Everything is entirely voluntary. Artists will post a description of what they are willing to donate/make/draw/write/etc. and bidders may either make an offer, or post a request that an artist may fulfill. A Triangle of Hope In order to make this auction successful, we need everyone's help! Bidders' donations go directly to charities aiding Japan; in turn, the bidders receive a wonderful work of art! And the artists themselves benefit by additional experience, more visibility to the DA community, and knowing that their art will become a prized possession for someone to enjoy! Together, we all benefit, and know that our efforts will help the people of Japan get back on their feet!! These auctions will accept offers for artwork, fiction, crafts, audio, and just about anything else! We accept both fanart and non-fanart. If you want to offer something and don't see a category for it, please ask! If you'd like to participate, please familiarize yourself with the group by reading the FAQ, How to Make an Offer, Bidding Rules, and member requirements below.
